Reviews
I stumbled upon this hidden gem of a coffee shop while driving aimlessly through the town I call home. Tucked away off the beaten path, Second Wave exudes charm and character. The real magic, though, lies in its outdoor space - a true oasis of tranquility. Surrounded by lush greenery and adorned with fire pits and outdoor yard games, it is the perfect spot to savor your beverage of choice and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life with friends. My Chai Latte was excellent, and the atmosphere, simply enchanting. Whether you're a local seeking solitude or a traveler in search of a unique experience, this place is a must-visit. And it was a delight to explore the pumpkin patch out back! As this was my first time here, I'm unsure what other seasonal activities they have throughout the year.
Loved the whole vibe!!! Reminded me a lot of coffee shops in the mountains, Europe, and northern US. They have invested in outdoor activities at the shop and it looks absolutely wonderful! They currently have a pumpkin patch that is kid friendly! The coffee is solid and they have beer on draft which is a good first.
A friend of mine and I stopped in here to kill some time after taking another friend of ours to a funeral in Lexington. The outdoor sitting areas are awesome, there's a little creek with a bridge and lots of picnic tables and games. Plus we were told this place is mainly employed by folks with downs syndrome and high-functioning autistic people, basically learning to acclamate to "normal" society by working here... Or something to that effect, which is beautiful. They also have reading nooks inside and a small library of donated books to read while you hang around. Definitely a hidden gem, I'm glad we spotted it in passing.
Absolutely wonderful coffee shop!
Workers are so delightful and everyone talks with you. They have a plethora of coffee and seasonal drinks and even adult beverages.
Lots of snacks to try out. Can't wait to come back at night to try out a smores kit at the fire pits. Tons of sitting areas for reading or just hanging and playing games.
The walking trails are fun and short and being Halloween time the kids really loved all the pumpkins everywhere.
The creek is nice to sit at and just watch the kids play and run around.
Beautifully located near a creek, among lush green trees, this cafe provides what it states: great coffee and books! They have a library within the cafe and couple of tables to read at but also a beautiful area outside where you can read on a good-weather day.
Tried their seasonal Berry Sweet Latte and it was delicious. Subtle berry flavor, which is what I prefer. Friends got Bee-Fluent Latte and Citrus Dream Mocha, all of it perfectly made and delicious!
Definitely coming back!
The place is so serene and peaceful! I ordered their seasonal special citrus dream mocha with 2 pumps of syrup instead of 3 for a 12 oz. This worked perfect for me as the flavors were just right and not overpowering. They also have quick bites such as bagels, brownies and macaroons as well. They have a great collection of books and outdoor seating among lush green trees.
Great customer service. Great yummy desserts, drinks, pizza , alcohol drinks you name it. Fire, comfort inside lounge couches books, restroom it’s the best comfy fun place with family and friends. Also a boardwalk behind the building to walk some. Pets allowed.
I knew this was a peak coffee house when I walked in and heard acoustic Evanescence playing at a perfect volume as I walked in. As I waited a short time to order and as I lounged enjoying an excellent chai latte, the playlist continued to be a perfect mixture of genres and tempos to maintain a laidback but upbeat ambience. The barista was very polite, friendly, and helpful. She even made the two hot chocolates I ordered for my kids at a lower temperature to make sure my kids didn’t burn their tongue. 10/10 will visit again.
